Multimedia Story – DRAFT
For my multimedia story, I will be going to Cordova Bay beach. This is one of my favorite places to spend time outside and in nature. The equipment that I’ll be needing will include my phone (to record videos and take photos) and potentially a notebook/pencil. Before I explore the beach, I want to think about the media forms I’ll be needing to capture. This will ensure they are displayed within my story to properly demonstrate my journey!
As for the shape of the story, I think that by accurately describing the experience as a journey, I can portray a representation of the beginning, middle, and end. For the start, I will record how I got to the beach, my plan for the adventure, and where I decided to start walking, or maybe even somewhere I choose to sit. The middle section will encapsulate my overall experience, any wildlife I encountered, the environment, and any challenges I faced. The ending will incorporate my feelings and overall reflection of the journey, as well as my back home.
Multimedia forms I want to use within my story are:
- Photos/images
- Text/written work/poetry
- Videos
- Drawings
To connect to course concepts, I will use the Multimedia Theory of Learning to arrange and display my story. Firstly, I’ll use the contiguity principle to keep media and text together, making it easier for readers to comprehend. I’ll also use the signaling principle to enhance organization and ensure the story is able to follow. Furthermore, I will use the redundancy principle, so media (such as text) isn’t overused, ultimately creating clutter. Lastly, I will make sure that the coherence principle is present throughout, making sure that only relevant photos, videos, text, and drawings are included. This will prevent confusion regarding unrelated content, keeping the reader’s attention on the story and main points.
